Life In An Nfl Locker Room


As a former NFL player, I spent a lot of my time in the locker room. As many people wonder what goes on inside an NFL locker room, here is a quick look.

As an NFL player, the locker room is our home away from home. This is where the team members become a family. This is where we bond and learn about each other’s different cultures, personalities, and view on life.

On an NFL team, there are people from many different walks of life. People are from different races, different parts of the country, they grew up with different values, different religions, and different cultures. Being able to get to know these people and learn about their life is one of the things I enjoyed most about the NFL. It was such a great learning experience to interact with so many different people.

So what do NFL players talk about in the locker room? We talk about the same thing everybody else does. We talk a lot about our wives, girlfriends, families, children, movies, music, our problems, and of course, a lot of joking around and talking smack. On every team there are a couple of guys who love to play pranks and keep everyone guessing as to what is coming next. It is a lot of fun.

Another fun thing to do is haze the rookies. Giving rookies a hard time is always fun and it helps build camaraderie. How do we haze rookies? Well, we like to get several team members together and go out for dinner with a rookie and then make him pay the bill. We also like to make rookies carry our equipment. To really embarrass rookies, we’ll make them get up in front of everybody and sing or dance. Sometimes we will give them a horrible haircut by shaving parts of their head. Sometimes we’ll shave off their eyebrows too. Embarrassing rookies is always good fun.

At Home Office and You

Want to start your own business? How about working from home and having the convenience of being in your pajamas all day every day? Sounds interesting and exciting doesn’t it? Reality dictates that in order to do this, you must have a home office conducive to a real work environment. Becoming your own boss and dictating your work hours is a dream of everyone at some point in their lives. As for me, my goal is to work from home out of my office in the attic full time once I retire. Working moms have dreamed of this for years and some have actually made that a true reality. But, you have to ask yourself, “Am I ready to make that leap? What resources do I need to have in order to achieve it? What is the bigger picture? Once you have asked yourself these important questions, be ready to take the ball and run with it if the answer is yes – I am ready!

Be ready for any and all challenges that lie ahead. No one said life was going to be easy, and please know having your own home office where you can make a living is not different. You are expected (or should expect) to work just as hard if not harder. This is your life we are talking about.

Have all the items available for your home office. This includes but is not limited to, a space where there will be no distractions or interruptions. Preferably have a place where you can lock it up when not in use. This is essential, if you are going to have a computer with sensitive customer information on it. Secondly, you will need the equipment to make this feasible. A home computer (preferably one that has the latest updates and required space), file cabinets, a printer and a telephone strictly dedicated to your business. Having all of these things are great and did I mention, you can write this stuff off on your taxes? In addition, having a home office and possibly your own business has a few requirements that come with it. First of all, it is extremely important to have the qualities needed; patience, confidence, stamina and perseverance. No one is going to give you anything and why would you want it? Anyone who wants to start business using their home office has to realize that starting one is easy. Being able to make money out of it is another. Realize that profits are not make overnight. Anyone who tells you that can also sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. Also know that if you are one of those people who dream big, but do not follow through, you are truly wasting your time and those who may want to hire you out of your home office.

Storage For Your Family Room


Ah, the family room, a scene of togetherness and communal living. It is a room of heavy traffic, of much activity and, unfortunately, with the potential for massive amounts of clutter. The family room is, also, frequently a place where storage is at a premium. You need storage and more storage, but how to find it and locate it in this functional room.

If you are in the planning stage of your house, consider built-in units: entertainment centers, book cases and similar helpful items. This will make storage of various related items easy. Consult your planner and see if there is enough storage space to accommodate you and your family’s needs in this area.

This does not, however, help you out if you already have a house and your growing family and their increasing accumulation of articles and discarding of others, requires you to find more storage space.

One suggestion is floor-to-ceiling storage built-in storage. Build or buy cabinets with flush doors and touch catches that stand flush against the walls. Paint them the same color as the walls to help them blend in.

If a unit already exists, consider using the areas atop. Reach up high and store, there, out-of-favor or seasonal items. If using the very top, avoid frequently needed items. Store only those least requested or used.

Another possibility is to combine two furniture selections in to one multi-functional piece. Instead of a table, consider one that doubles as storage space. Some coffee tables have an extra shelf beneath them, some are able to have one added, but a better choice is a trunk or chest. It can do triple duty as a table, work space and storage facility. If company arrives, you simply whisk everything into the trunk, close the lid and cover it with a decorative cloth or piece of fabric.

The same principle can be applied elsewhere in the room – and throughout the house. At the end of a sofa or chair, place something more functional than a mere end table. Select something practical – one that has a closed base with drawers or shelves.
